ACFM Crack Microgauge

A unique system for crack detection and sizing

MB Inspection offers this effective and flexible method for non-contact defect detection and sizing. The system known as Alternating Current Field Measurement (ACFM), integrated with the contact method ACPD provides detection, monitoring and sizing of surface breaking cracks. It is simple to use and allows a technician to rapidly scan joints and parent material to detect and size cracks.

The ACFM microgauge covers a wide range of applications. It can be applied to electrically conductive materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminium, nickel, titanium as well as carbon reinforced plastics and so forth. Although the probe is scanned over the surface, it is “dry coupled” and works through coatings.

The system is light, rugged and portable and designed for a variety of process plant and industrial applications.

System Features

  • Works on any electrically conductive material.
  • “Finger Print” capability for ongoing monitoring.
  • Permanent record of scan data, highly reproducible.
  • Non-Invasive – it can inspect without removing any protective coating.
  • High Temperature – the system can be applied at temperatures approaching 500°C.
  • Able to transfer information electronically allowing remote evaluation of all data generated.
