The MBMHS Standard press range comprises two types of press, the single mould and the three mould, each capable of exerting a maximum force of 400 tones (4 MN).

The single mould press is of a much simpler design and the initial cost is lower than the three mould press. However, the trend is for concrete producers to employ the three mould press where higher output is required. The single mould press is most suitable for lower quantity and special production runs requiring frequent mould changes.

Over the years both types of press have been continually developed and designed specifically to operate with the harsh environment of a concrete works. Particular attention has been made to ensure complete reliability.

Notable features of the design include:

  • Quiet running, with no noisy vibration system
  • Solenoid operated/manifold mounted hydraulic valves
  • Incorporates a high speed radial piston pump which has been proven to be extremely reliable, or proprietary pumps
  • All press movements are interlocked so as to prevent any out of sequence damage to the press

Wet Pressing Benefits

For precast concrete paving slabs, kerbs, steps, blocks etc.

  • Attractive and Excellent surface finish
  • Good dimensional accuracy
  • Highest concrete density
  • Highest compressive strength
  • Immediate de-moulding
  • Lowest water absorption
  • Lowest cement usage
  • Thinner products = less weight
  • No vibration = low noise levels
  • De-watering by special vacuum system
  • Minimum total investment cost
  • No requirement for special curing system

“The only process that produces kerbs to british standard quality requirements”

Special Purpose Benefits

In addition to the standard range of presses, we have designed, manufactured and commissioned presses for pressing concrete and other granular materials, eg. Glass reinforced concrete, cattle feed, grinding wheels etc.

Typical Production Rates

The main variable affecting production rates, is the type of fine material, ie., sand and 3 mm to dust (crushed stone). This determines the pre-set timed pressure dwell, ie. the time it takes to press excess water from the product and form a dense, handleable unit. The pressure dwell also varies with the thickness of the product.
