Motherwell
Bridge lands £10.5M cement contract.
Leading engineering
group Motherwell Bridge has landed a £10.5 million contract to construct
a central part of the first major new cement works to be built in
the UK for 10 years. The group’s Mechanical Construction division
will build the mechanical plant and also install the refractory
for Rugby Cement’s new £120m facility now under construction at
Rugby. The order, which involves the erection of more than 9000
tonnes of plant and refractory, will be handled by Motherwell Bridge’s
subsidiary John Young Construction of Glasgow. Motherwell Bridge
chief executive John Lumsden said: “Rugby Cement will be one of
the most significant mechanical engineering projects undertaken
in the UK this year and we are delighted to be part of the team
which will build this major new facility.”
