The
continuing practice of refuse disposal by landfill has environmental
implications in control and removal of methane gas from leachate.
Rain water falling on the landfill site, forms the leachate which
absorbs methane gas during its percolation through the decomposing
landfill. Extracting the leachate and removing the methane is an
essential environmental consideration. The 8metre x 3metre x 1.5metre
high partitioned FRP tank shown, receives the leachate through which
air is passed via a PVC diffuser system, displacing the methane
which is collected safely for disposal. (Photo)
