The Faber task force based in Hanford, Washington State, have returned
to the UK having successfully completed Phase I of their “front
end” design work on the River Protection project. This work took
approximately 18 months and was Faber’s first “hands on” project
in the USA. The work was undertaken for BNFL Inc on behalf of the
Department of Environment. The project involves the design of a
Vitrification facility for high level and low level Plutonium waste.
It is anticipated that further design support will be provided during
the next phase of this multi-billion dollar project.
