PARTNERSHIP WINS MAJOR POWER STATION DECOMMISSIONING PROJECT

Artists impression

A partnership led by Amey Construction Limited with Motherwell Bridge Nuclear has been awarded a multimillion pound plant decommissioning project that will last three years. The project is associated with the partial dismantling of the boilers at BNFL’s Trawsfynydd Power Station, which is currently at Stage 1 of decommissioning.

The artist’s impression above simulates the final state of the power station after removal of the boiler and lowering of the reactor building roof.

This is a welcome return to Trawsfynydd for Motherwell Bridge, who were responsible for the supply of a manipulator to deliver tooling to remove samples from the Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) in the early 1990’s.
