MB Aerospace Ltd wins multi-million dollar contract to supply The Boeing Company, USA with Missile Launch Systems

 

MB Aerospace Ltd, Burnley in North West England are delighted to announce the award of a significant extension to their current order book with Boeing Integrated Defense Systems in St. Louis, MO, USA.

 

This contract will involve MB Aerospace Burnley supplying several variations of Launch Systems for the Boeing Harpoon program. This order will run concurrently with existing orders and will generate additional sales revenue of approx. $6m.

The plant at Burnley specialises in the supply chain management, integration and assembly of defence systems for a range of global defence contractors. MB Aerospace Burnley has undertaken this work for several years and will co-ordinate and programme manage a network of approved global suppliers to enable manufacture, test and final assembly of these launch systems.

This new award will stimulate additional work packages for MB Aerospace’s Motherwell plant in Scotland. The Motherwell plant in Central Scotland has a significant manufacturing and machining capability providing a range of CAM and precision machined aerospace components for the commercial and defence aerospace markets.

MB Aerospace Ltd, a subsidiary of MB Engineering Solutions employs over 100 personnel, specialising in the manufacture, test and assembly of defence and commercial aerospace systems and components.

Craig Gallagher, MB Aerospace’s Managing Director, commented “this is a great opportunity for both our plants to combine their skills and engineering capability to offer a vertical integration solution to a blue chip client, Boeing Integrated Defence Systems.

This follows the recent order on MB Aerospace to manufacture and supply a range of Aero-Engine ring components to Rolls-Royce plc.

He added  “The commercial and defence aerospace industry is under going much consolidation following the events of 9/11. Much focus by Industry primes has been put into developing high value supply chains that can offer competitive solutions and responsiveness similar to that in the automotive sector. With our manufacturing and Integration capabilities across both sites, we are in a very strong position to capitalise on these opportunities.”
