MBMHS win
major contract from Davy Roll Company.
Motherwell Bridge
Material Handling Systems has recently secured a large order for
a “Dry Grinder” to be used for the removal of the very hard outer
skin of centrifugally cast rolls (up to 100 tonnes in weight) for
use in the metal rolling industries.
The order was
secured in the face of stiff overseas competition.
The contract
is full turnkey apart from civil design and construction and the
equipment to be supplied is a second generation machine capable
of high metal removal rates whilst still maintaining the ability
to produce surface finishes suitable for ultra sonic testing.
The machine
will be designed and manufactured in the company’s West Yorkshire
facilities and will be provided with a state of the art control
system and software designed, developed and manufactured in house.
A full environmental
package is to be provided as part of the contract, covering both
noise reduction and dust and fume extraction.
The machine
is to be delivered in the first quarter of 2001 for installation
and commissioning in a new purpose built extension to The Davy Roll
Company’s premises.
